SPR Setup of Jon “Duffy” Dufresne/Kinetic Consulting – Cobalt Kinetics

by Firearms Depot

I’m John Dufresne from Kinetic Consulting, and today, I’m excited to delve into the world of Cobalt Kinetic rifles. Specifically, I’ll be shedding light on the remarkable CK SPR series, renowned for their precision and adaptability.

Cobalt Kinetic CK SPRS Rifles: Precision Unleashed

The CK SPR rifles are precision-based firearms that offer a plethora of possibilities when it comes to barrels and calibers. These versatile rifles are a favorite among shooters seeking both accuracy and adaptability.

The Mighty 6mm ARC: Precision Meets Power

First up, let’s dive into the world of the 6mm ARC. This high-pressure round is a testament to precision and power. To optimize its potential, I’ve equipped it with a Thunderbeast Ultra-7 suppressor. This suppressor sports a quick-detach mount ensuring seamless attachment and detachment.

But what truly sets this 6mm ARC apart is its 16-inch proof barrel, expertly tailored for Cobalt Kinetic rifles. The proprietary barrel installation method, involving a jam nut, guarantees a snug fit, contributing to enhanced accuracy.

Precision Awaits: Scopes and Mounts

Moving up to the upper receiver, I’ve opted for my trusty Mark V scope from Leupold. With a 3.6 to 18x magnification range, it’s a favorite among precision shooters.

Triggering Precision: The All-American Trigger

To ensure precision shooting, the 6mm ARC features an All-American trigger. It delivers crisp, consistent trigger breaks, making it ideal for group shooting and long-range accuracy. In fact, I’ve stretched this rifle’s capabilities to the limit, confidently taking shots at targets over a mile away in the scenic landscapes of Idaho.

Buffered for Success: The Cobalt Buffer System

Cobalt Kinetic rifles are known for their innovative buffer system, and the 6mm ARC is no exception. This system ensures a perfect marriage between the buffer and bolt carrier, enhancing reliability and overall performance.

Stocking Up: Magpul CTR and Arasaka Precision

The rifle’s stock consists of a Magpul CTR, providing comfort and stability during shooting. Additionally, it features an Arasaka Precision straightener bag for added convenience.

Enter the 5.56 Upper: Versatility Redefined

Now, let’s shift our focus to the 5.56 upper, a testament to versatility. Equipped with a Huxwrx 556 suppressor, this upper is designed for those who demand adaptability. The muzzle device, tailored for Hux cans, adds to its overall appeal.

Purebred Performance: The Roscoe Barrel

This 5.56 upper boasts a 16-inch purebred barrel from Roscoe, known for its affinity for 77-grain ammunition. It’s worth noting that I’ve included a Cloud Defensive light in the front, primarily for night shooting.

Scoping It Out: Leupold and Aimpoint

Similar to the 6mm ARC, this upper features a Leupold Mark VI scope, sporting a 3 to 18x magnification range. Additionally, it accommodates an AimPoint sight, ensuring rapid target acquisition. Here’s an interesting tidbit: I use a left-handed Aimpoint mount on the right side of the rifle to achieve a higher bore axis, allowing for night vision compatibility.

Seamless Transition: Cobalt Kinetic Consistency

What’s remarkable about Cobalt Kinetic rifles is their uniformity. Transitioning from the 6mm ARC to the 5.56 upper is a breeze. There’s no need to tinker with buffers, springs, or other components. Both setups are finely tuned to use the same buffer and spring. Simply swap the upper and magazine, and you’re ready to roll.

Conclusion: Precision Redefined

In a nutshell, these Cobalt Kinetic rifles have become my go-to choices for shooting, whether it’s zeroing in on targets mere yards away or stretching the limits of precision over vast distances. Their adaptability, precision, and consistent performance make them stand out in the world of firearms.
